02/12/2019 (Turkey) - Media sources reported on Tuesday, 12 February, that further protests by pro-Kurdish groups and political parties in support of hunger striking activists are likely. Supporters on Saturday, 9 February, gathered at the Yenisehir Tevfik Sirri Gur Stadium in Mersin, Mersin province, while activists in Istanbul staged a march and rally in Taksim Square on Monday, 11 February. Further spontaneous demonstrations are possible throughout the country in the coming days, particularly on Friday, 15 February, the 100th day of Kurdish MP Leyla Guven's hunger strike.

Members are advised to avoid any demonstrations due to the security risk that they pose. Any large crowds should be avoided and strong situational awareness should be maintained at all times. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the protests.
