02/12/2019 (Portugal) - Media sources reported on Tuesday, 12 February, that a general strike has been called for by the General Union of Workers (UGT) and the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers (CGTP) on Thursday, 14 February, and Saturday, 15 February. The strike has been called because of low wages. As well as this, a protest is due to take place on Thursday, 14 February, outside the Ministry of Finance in Lisbon, located on Rua da Alfandega. The strike is expected to affect all sectors, including public transport.

Members are advised to avoid any demonstrations due to the security risk that they pose. Any large crowds should be avoided and strong situational awareness should be maintained at all times. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the protests.
