02/12/2019 (Somalia) - According to local media sources on Tuesday, 12 February, at least one person was killed during an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the village of Seybiyano located in the Hodan district of Mogadishu. The victim was a police officer who was in his vehicle when the blast went off. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Due to the ongoing conflict and frequent militant attacks, Somalia remains an extremely high-risk environment and all travel to the country should be reconsidered. Members in Mogadishu are advised to avoid the vicinity of the area due to the risk of tertiary devices. Members should maintain a heightened level of vigilance and should report any suspicious items or activity to authorities.
