March to Protest Rise in Fuel Prices Planned in Santo Domingo on 24 October

10/22/2018 (Dominican Republic) - The leaders of FENATRADO, the country's biggest truckers union, have called upon members to join a march in Santo Domingo on Wednesday, 24 October to protest the recent increase in fuel prices. The demonstrators will gather at the Enriquillo Park at 0900hrs (1300 UTC) and march toward the National Palace. Heightened security measures and traffic disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the march.

Travellers are advised to avoid the vicinity of the gatherings in order to limit the chances of being affected by incidental violence and opportunistic crime. Monitor local media sources for information regarding further protests and associated travel disruption.
