10/22/2018 (United Kingdom) - The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union have called upon its members to stage a five-day strike from Tuesday, 23 October through Saturday, 27 October, over the provision of security guards aboard South Western Railway trains. According to media sources, the RMT wants a guarantee that there will be trained guards on all South Western Railway services. A spokesperson from South Western Railway has stated that around one-third of the South Western Railway services will be affected by the strike. Further industrial actions are planned across November.

Members travelling by train in the south-west of England on the aforementioned dates are advised to check with South Western Railway before their departures to confirm the status of their journeys. Travellers should also monitor local media for further developments.
