10/22/2018 (Pakistan) - Local media reports indicate that at least 19 people were killed on the evening of Sunday, 21 October, after two buses carrying passengers collided in Ghazi Ghat near Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab province. At least 35 other people are reported to have been injured in the incident and were taken to hospital. The cause of the accident is currently unclear. Crowded passenger buses are a popular form of public transportation in Pakistan and the vast majority of journeys are carried out without incident. However, the poor quality of roads increases the risk of overland travel accidents. Long-distance travel within the country is most safely accomplished via air travel.

Members conducting overland travel in Pakistan are advised to use reputable transport providers with professional drivers and well-maintained vehicles. Self-driving is not recommended for those unfamiliar with roads and driving conditions.
