Istanbul New Airport Transfer Process Updated; Visa Entry Process also Altered

10/22/2018 (Turkey) - According to media sources on Monday, 22 October, Istanbul New Airport will begin its transfer process at 0300hrs (0000UTC) on 30 October 2018 and will end at 0000hrs (2100UTC) on the 31 October. During this 45-hour transfer period, both Istanbul New Airport and Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IST) will operate, both offering a limited number of flights. Then, as of 0000hrs (2100UTC) on 31 October, Istanbul Ataturk Airport will cease all domestic and international commercial passenger flights, completing the transfer process. Further to the update on the airports' transfer process, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office have released a travel warning for the updated Visa Entry procedure. As of the 29 October 2018, all self-service e-Visa kiosks and Wifi areas where visitors could previously apply for e-visas will no longer be available. Visas must now be applied for an obtained prior to travel.

Those travelling intending to travel to or from Istanbul during the aforementioned period should contact their respective flight provider in order to ascertain the status of their flight. Members should monitor local media sources for any further information and heed any directives issued by local aviation authorities.
