Many Injured after Floor Collapses at Apartment Complex in Clemson, South Carolina

10/21/2018 (United States) - According to emerging social media reports, at least nine people have been injured after a floor collapsed in the clubhouse of the Woodlands of Clemson Apartments Complex in Clemson, South Carolina in the early hours of Sunday morning, 21 October. The complex houses many students of Clemson University, and video imagery shows that the wooden floor of the clubhouse appears to have given way under partygoers, sending people falling to the basement below. Many people were reportedly injured and some people are still believed to be trapped under the collapsed floor. The emergency services are reportedly on the scene, with three helicopters and units from Anderson, Oconeee, Pickens and Greenville County attending. Localised traffic disruption is anticipated in the area as the response to the incident continues.

Members in the Clemson area are advised to avoid the vicinity of the incident due to the ongoing response operations. Monitor local media outlets for the latest developments on the situation and any associated disruption in the area.
