10/21/2018 (Congo (Kinshasa)) - According to emerging social media sources on Sunday, 21 October, police have clashed with crowds protesting the death of at least 13 people on Saturday night. Demonstrators gathered in order to stress their dismay at Saturday nights clashes, where police reportedly killed at least 13 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militants. The protest, however, has reportedly begun to be dispersed by police, with early-stage reports suggesting the police are using live ammunition. More information awaited.

Members in the eastern provinces of the DRC are advised to monitor local media sources and liaise with in-country contacts to remain apprised of security-related developments in their particular area of operations. Travellers should heed any directives issued by security forces and local authorities and abide by any extraordinary security measures which may be in place.
