Soldiers Injured in IED Explosion in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir

10/19/2018 (India) - According to local media reports, official sources have stated that at least seven soldiers were injured when militants detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) targeting their vehicle on Thursday, 18 October in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred at around 2145hrs (1615 UTC) as a patrol vehicle was crossing the Trichal Bridge on the Pulwama-Lassipora road. According to officials, three of the seven injuries were critical and these were taken to an army hospital for treatment. One local news agency reported that the militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) had claimed responsibility for the attack and had also claimed that three soldiers were killed and seven injured in the blast.

Members in Pulwama are advised to maintain a heightened level of vigilance due to possible further attacks and security counter-operations. Members are advised to monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any further militant attacks, protests, security operations or other incidents which could affect personal safety, travel plans and business continuity. Travellers should heed all directives issued by security forces and local authorities and observe any extraordinary security measures that may be in place, including curfews. Any suspicious items or activity should be reported to security forces immediately.
