10/19/2018 (Germany) - The anti-immigrant Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West (PEGIDA) organisation is planning to hold a rally in Dresden, Saxony on Sunday, 21 October. The rally is being held to mark the fourth anniversary of the group's creation and will take place at Neumarkt from 1330hrs (1130 UTC). In response to the rally, several civil society groups are planning counter-protests to demonstrate their opposition to PEGIDA's views. Two concurrent counter-marches are planning to converge at Postplatz from 1530hrs (1330 UTC). Traffic disruption is likely in the vicinity of the various marches and clashes between the different protesters cannot be ruled out.

Members within Dresden are advised to avoid the vicinity of Neumarkt, Postplatz and any other gatherings on the aforementioned date in order to mitigate against unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime and potential scuffles between rival protesting groups. Travellers are further advised to anticipate overland travel disruptions resulting from the crowds and associated heightened security presence. Monitor local media for the latest information on the protests and associated disruption.
