10/19/2018 (Turkey) - According to emerging media reports on Friday, 19 October, Turkish Prime minister is to host other leaders including Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin in Istanbul for a summit on the on-going and future of the Syrian conflict in Istanbul on Saturday, 27 October. The summit follows on from a similar meeting between high-profile leaders on April 4, 2018, however, this time Macron and Merkel have been invited to join the discussion. The four-way summit will hope to coordinate its future plans for the Syrian state and find a lasting resolution to a country which has been in conflict since 2011. Due to the profile of the attendees, increased security is expected, along with general traffic disruption as the country prepares to host the four leaders.

Travellers should anticipate potential localised travel disruption and related delays due to increased security measures in the lead-up to and during the four-way summit. Clients are advised to remain clear of any protests, whether planned or spontaneous, directed at the event, and should heed all directives by security forces.
