Water Supply across Much of Mexico City to be affected by Maintenance Work from 31 October to 8 November

10/19/2018 (Mexico) - Many boroughs across Mexico City will experience cuts and disruption to water supply during maintenance work on the city's Cutzamala water system from Wednesday, 31 October to Thursday, 8 November. According to the National Water Commission, 13 out of the city's 16 boroughs will be affected, with Alvaro Obregon, Cuajimalpa, Cuauhtemoc and Miguel Hidalgo boroughs experiencing total cuts during this period, while Azcapotzalco, Benito Juarez, Coyoacan, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Magdalena Contreras, Tlahuac, Tlalpan and Venustiano Carranza will experience partial cuts to water supply. Authorities are reportedly organising for more than 500 tanker trucks to distribute water throughout the capital and will try and supply affected residents with buckets and cisterns before the cuts begin. They have advised people to prepare for the outages by stocking up on bottled drinking water, food that does not require water to cook and to store tap water in buckets and other containers.
Members in Mexico City are advised to prepare for the outages by taking the steps advised above by local authorities, such as stocking up on bottled drinking water, and should conserve water where possible during the period of the outage. All other directives or advice issued by local authorities should be adhered to and members are advised to monitor local media for the latest information on the situation and for any public advisories.
