Three Kidnapped by Gunmen in Asaba, Delta State

10/18/2018 (Nigeria) - According to local media sources on Thursday, 18 October, a senior police officer and two businessmen have been abducted in and around Asaba, Delta State. During the kidnapping of the policeman, the gunmen fired off several shots which reportedly injured some bystanders. The gunmen kidnapped the officer while he was on his way to work and abducted the businessmen shortly after in the area of Okwe. Local security services are conducting operations in the area.
Those with operationally critical requirements in Delta State should conduct a thorough localised threat assessment and ensure that all travel is undertaken in coordination with local security forces and a trusted private security provider. Security and crisis management procedures should be continually reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate with the local threat environment. In order to reduce the risk of kidnapping, travellers should maintain a low profile, keep travel itineraries discreet, vary travel routines, including routes, timings and vehicles. Any suspicious activity should be immediately reported to security forces.
