10/18/2018 (Afghanistan) - At least two civilians were killed on Thursday, 18 October, after an apparent suicide bomb attack on a NATO convoy near Bagram. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack. A spokeswoman for the provincial governor in Parwan said the assault took place near Bagram. Along with the two people killed, at least three civilians were wounded. A Taliban spokesman reported that an insurgent suicide bomber rammed his car into the convoy.

Due to the threat of militant attacks and counter security operations, Afghanistan remains an extremely high-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security risk management procedures in place. Members should maintain a low profile and use a vetted security provider that offers close protection and emergency response services. Minimise time spent in the vicinity of security checkpoints, security headquarters and government buildings, as these are among the primary targets for militant attacks.
