10/18/2018 (Spain) - The regional meteorological authorities on Thursday, 18 October, report that torrential rain is expected between Thursday and Saturday along the east-central Mediterranean coast. The heaviest rainfall is expected on Saturday in Alicante as fronts from the Mediterranean and the Atlantic merge over the area. Hail and thunderstorms and winds of up to 60mph (97 km/h) will also batter the coast, with forecasters issuing orange and red alerts across the region. In Alicante, police have mounted extra patrols and holidaymakers have been warned to brace themselves for severe weather conditions. Local Police will intensify their surveillance of the 25 most likely areas of Alicante that could be affected.

Members in affected areas are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather and flood-related updates and heed any directives issued by local authorities. Drivers should exercise a heightened degree of caution in flood-affected areas due to likely hazardous conditions caused by flooding and debris.
