Fatality Following Armed Attack in Chinameca, Acapulco, Guerrero State

10/17/2018 (Mexico) - According to local media sources, one person was killed and two more were injured following a shooting in the Chinameca neighbourhood of Acapulco, Guerrero State, on Tuesday, 16 October. The motive for the attack is still unknown. The incident is the latest in a series of armed incidents in the city, which has been plagued by violent crime and is experiencing record murder rates in 2018, due to gang-related criminal activity.

Members in Acapulco state should remain apprised of the latest security-related developments through local media, minimise non-essential travel in areas associated with high crime rates, and heed any directives issued by local authorities. Travellers are advised to regularly review security risk management protocols at worksites and residences to ensure they remain commensurate to the prevailing local threat environment.
