10/17/2018 (Mexico) - Federal Police and personnel of the National Institute of Migration (INM) reinforced the border of Chiapas on Monday, 15 October, to prevent the entry of the migrant caravan that left Honduras last Saturday which seeks to reach the United States. Both agencies indicated that only those who comply with legal requirements will be allowed to enter Mexico. On Monday, thousands of migrants faced uncertainty on the border with Guatemala due to riot police preventing them from entering the country. After a few hours, they allowed the advance of the caravan. Last Saturday a thousand Hondurans, including men, women and children, started the caravan from San Pedro Sula in order to reach the United States in search of better living conditions and escape from violence.

Travellers should monitor local media sources for any further information on travel disruptions along the route of the procession and should heed any directives issued by the authorities.
