10/17/2018 (Angola) - Local media sources report on Wednesday, 17 October, that at least 300 people have been affected after their homes were destroyed by recent heavy rains in the Calendula and Quela municipalities of Malanje Province. Emergency service operations are reportedly in place to assist the victims. Further rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Malanje Province for the rest of October, which may lead to further flood risks.
Members in Malanje Province should monitor local media outlets for weather-related updates and heed any directives given by the authorities. Maintain a heightened awareness of the potential risks when travelling such as flooding, debris and landslides.
