Roadways Workers Union to Hold Two-Day Strike in Haryana State on 16-17 October

10/16/2018 (India) - According to local media sources on Monday, 15 October, Haryana Roadways Workers union have announced a two-day strike on Tuesday, 16 October and Wednesday, 17 October. The strike is to protest the government's decision to hire 720 private buses, which the union's spokesperson state will adversely affect the roadways employees.

Members using public transport in Haryana are advised to review their journey plans in light of the roadway personnel strike and the expected travel disruption. Given the possibility of associated unrest, members are advised to avoid the vicinity of any rallies, pickets or demonstrations in order to limit their exposure to unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime, and heavy-handed police response operations.
