10/16/2018 (Cote d'Ivoire) - A number of people were injured early on the morning of Monday, 15 October, as riot police fired tear gas to break up crowds of demonstrators in Grand-Bassam, near Abidjan. The protesters were demonstrating to demand the release of local election results, following Saturday's poll. Tensions have been high over the election period, with at least one person killed in clashes. Further protests are likely in the near term.

Members are advised to avoid the vicinity of any political gatherings or demonstrations due to the risk of incidental violence, opportunistic crime and heavy-handed security response. Closely follow local media outlets for further updates on the post-election tension.
