Yellow Weather Alert Issued for Multiple Municipalities Nationwide

10/16/2018 (El Salvador) - On Monday, 15 October, the Civil Protection of El Salvador has extended the in force Yellow alert until Wednesday, 17 October for 39 municipalities as adverse weather will affect the country. Heavy rains accompanied by electrical activity are to be expected, mainly in volcanic, mountainous and coastal sectors of the country. Authorities stated that approximately 80 millimetres of rain will probably fall in the Chaparrastique Volcano area of San Miguel where an Orange Alert has been issued. Torrential rainfall in El Salvador often results in floods that disrupt the course of normal life.
Members in affected areas are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather and flood-related updates and heed any directives issued by local authorities. Drivers should exercise a heightened degree of caution in flood-affected areas due to likely hazardous conditions caused by flooding and debris.
