Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Multiple Locations; Risk of Flooding in Low Lying Areas

10/16/2018 (Fiji Islands) - On Tuesday, 16 October, the Fiji Meteorological Service (FMO) extended the in force heavy rain warning for at least 24-hours for the Yasawa, Mamanuca and Lomaiviti group, eastern half and interior of Viti Levu. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Weather forecasts predict heavy rainfall at least until Thursday, 18 October.
Members in affected areas are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather and flood-related updates and heed any directives issued by local authorities. Drivers should exercise a heightened degree of caution in flood-affected areas due to likely hazardous conditions caused by flooding and debris.
