Multiple Casualties Reported Following Bus Accident in Haripal Village, West Bengal State

10/16/2018 (India) - At least six people have died, and 20 injured on Tuesday, 16 October, when a bus fell into a canal in the Haripal village, West Bengal State according to local authorities. The Kolkata-bound bus fell into the Dakatia Khal near Gojarmore around 0900hrs (0330 UTC). Local villagers and policemen are currently involved in rescue operations. The injured passengers have been taken to the Haripal Hospital.

Vehicular accidents are relatively frequent in India due to inadequate road maintenance in rural areas, poor driver discipline and limited enforcement of traffic rules.
