Many Arrested in Illegal Fishing Operation near Cay Lobos

10/16/2018 (Bahamas) - Local media sources report that the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) arrested at least 120 Dominican illegal fishermen and seized three vessels near Cay Lobos, 12 nautical miles north of central Cuba, on Saturday, 13 October. Authorities said that the illegal fishers engaged the RBDF in a shootout while attempting to escape into Cuban waters. No casualties have been reported.
In-country personnel are advised to report any suspicious persons, items or activity. Members should monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any security operations in their particular area or other incidents which could affect personal safety, travel plans and business continuity. Furthermore, members should heed all directives issued by security forces and local authorities.
