Multiple Security Personnel Abducted by Jaish ul-Adl Militants in Mirjaveh, Sistan and Baluchestan Province

10/16/2018 (Iran) - Local media sources report that at least 14 security personnel have been abducted in the city of Mirjaveh on Tuesday, 16 October. The abductees include five border guards, seven members of Basij militia and two members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). The Jaish ul-Adl (JUD) militant group has claimed the responsibility for the abduction. The JUD is a Sunni militant group based in Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran.

Those in the Mirjaveh area are advised to monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any further militant attacks or security operations in the region. Travellers are advised to avoid the vicinity of any active operations due to the risk of exposure to incidental violence. Due to the elevated threat from terrorism in Sistan and Baluchestan province, travellers should exercise a heightened level of vigilance and immediately report any suspicious items or activity to security forces.
