Multiple Fatalities following Landslide on Bogota-Villavicencio road; Road Traffic Disrupted

06/23/2018 (Colombia) - Local media sources report on Friday, 22 June, that four people have been killed as a result of a landslide which occurred at approximately 1200hrs (1700 UTC) at Sector De la Petite, Kilometre 46 of the Bogota-Villavicencio road. Emergency services have been dispatched on the site of the incident. Excavation works are still underway to remove debris obstructing the road.
Travellers are advised to remain abreast of weather-related developments and review contingency measures to minimise the impact on business continuity. Motorists are advised to exercise heightened caution, particularly on mountain roads, due to likely hazardous driving conditions, and avoid travel in areas which have been highlighted as prone to landslides.
