Further Shooting Incident Reported in Malmo; Police Fear Gang Reprisal

06/23/2018 (Sweden) - Local media report that an 18-year old man was shot and wounded in Malmo in the late hours of Friday, 22 June. The individual was shot in the back, but was wearing a bulletproof vest. He declined to offer a statement about the incident. Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the shooting and fear the incident was a retaliatory attack related to the internet cafe shooting which left three dead earlier this week.

Clients in Malmo are advised to exercise a heightened level of situational awareness and report any type of suspicious activity to the security forces. Travellers should monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any security operations in their particular area and heed any directives issued by police and local authorities.
