06/23/2018 (Nicaragua) - A large demonstration is scheduled to occur in Managua on Saturday, 23 June. Activists are expected to gather at 1400hrs (2000 UTC) at Monumento Alexis in Plaza de Las Victorias, before proceeding towards Jean Paul Genie Roundabout. The event, dubbed the 'March of Flowers', has been organised by The Civic Alliance for Justice and Democracy to commemorate the lives of children killed during the ongoing period of unrest in Nicaragua. The march is intended to be peaceful, though a large security presence is expected in the vicinity. The organisation has called upon supporters to hold simultaneous marched in urban centres nationwide.

Members are advised to remain clear of the march in Managua and avoid the vicinity of all political gatherings and protests in Nicaragua due to the risk of incidental violence and heavy-handed security response. Travellers in major cities throughout Nicaragua are advised to remain vigilant amid the ongoing unrest and heightened tensions. Members should be mindful of the increased security presence and remain aware of their surroundings given the likelihood of further spontaneous protests.
