Foreign National Stabbed following Scuffle in St. Petersburg; Further Arrests Made for Hooliganism

06/23/2018 (Russia) - According to local media sources, a Brazilian national was stabbed during a late-night scuffle in St. Petersburg on Friday, 22 June. Police state that the man was heavily intoxicated, and had been stabbed by a compatriot following a disagreement at a bar on Krasnogvardeysky Boulevard. On the same night, police arrested two other Brazilians on charges of minor hooliganism.

Clients in St. Petersburg are advised to exercise a heightened level of situational awareness and report any type of suspicious activity to the police and local authorities. Levels of criminal activity are moderate in Russia. Robberies and assaults against foreign nationals have been reported at bars or clubs late at night or early in the morning in major urban centres. Whilst most incidents are non-violent, however, street criminals may turn violent if resisted.
