06/23/2018 (Canada) - On Sunday, 1 July, Canada Day will be celebrated across the country, with specific events planned in the cities of Ottawa and Montreal. Official events in Ottawa will be held at Parliament Hill and Major's Hill Park and several roads in the downtown area will be closed to traffic. In Montreal, a parade will be held in the centre of the city, commencing at the intersection of Fort and Ste. Catherine Streets at 1100hrs (1500 UTC), and end at Place du Canada. Further events are likely throughout the city, as well as a fireworks display. As this is a designated national holiday, disruption to public services, transport, and commerce is expected, and an increased security presence is likely in urban centres nationwide.
Members in Canada are advised to remain vigilant in the vicinity of large crowds due to the risk of exposure to potential violence and opportunistic crime.
