Pro-Brexit Protesters Rally at Belfast City Hall in Support of UK Freedom March

06/23/2018 (United Kingdom) - Protesters have gathered for a large rally in central Belfast on Saturday, 23 June, in support of the UK Freedom March movement. Hundreds of pro-Brexit activists gathered at Sandy Row in the south of the city at 1130hrs (1030 UTC) and marched towards City Hall. An anti-fascist organisation is holding a counter-demonstration at City Hall. There is a heavy police presence at the event and roadblocks have been implemented in the vicinity of the City Hall.
Members are advised to remain well clear of the event in Belfast, as well as any political gatherings and protests in Northern Ireland due to the risk of incidental violence and heavy-handed security response. Travellers are advised to remain vigilant throughout the city and heed any directives issued by authorities.
