06/22/2018 (Mexico) - On Wednesday, 20 June, clashes between rival political groups erupted at a political act held by the left-wing Movimiento de Regeneracion Nacional (MORENA) party at Juarez square in Pachuca, Hidalgo state. Party leader Lopez Obrador had to interrupt the event as the security forces took control of the situation. Politically-motivated violence remains a significant concern 10 days before the election day; 116 political representatives and police officials have been killed since the latest electoral period started in Mexico in 2017.
Members in Mexico during the electoral period are advised to exercise an increased level of vigilance and keep up to date with the latest events via local media. Any protests and political gatherings should be avoided to minimise the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, incidental violence and police crowd control operations. Monitor local media sources for further updates.
