06/22/2018 (Lebanon) - According to local media sources on Friday, 22 June, the Lebanese Armed Forces have increased patrols and mobile checkpoints in Baalbek city. It is indicated that the increased security measures will be focused on the commercial market and in the vicinity of the Ras Al Ain park. The increased security measures come in the context of imminent wide-scale security operations in the Baalbeck-Hermel province as well as peace talks between the Jaafar and Jamal clans, which have been active in the Syrian border areas of the Baal-beck-Hermel region.

Due to the heightened tensions and ongoing unrest, members in Baalbek-Hermel are advised to remain vigilant and liaise with local authorities to identify high-risk locations and ongoing security operations. Security procedures should be regularly reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate with the evolving local threat environment.
