06/22/2018 (Netherlands) - Members of the Netherlands Trade Union Confederation for Regional Transport (FNV Streekvervoer) are threatening to take part in an indefinite strike from Monday, 25 June. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the strike is expected to last for three working days, though this is subject to negotiation. If the strike goes ahead, significant disruption will be caused across bus and rail networks nationwide. The industrial action is being held in response to unsuccessful negotiations between labour unions and employers regarding working conditions for 12,000 employees. The negotiations are primarily focusing on improvements to salaries, pension schemes, and working conditions.

Travellers are advised to anticipate significant disruption to public transport networks and a surge in demand for alternative means of travel during the strike. Clients planning to travel via bus or by train during the strike are advised to contact their travel provider in advance to remain apprised of any developments. Monitor local media reports for further updates.
