06/21/2018 (Thailand) - Members of the Doi Suthep Forest Reclamation Network will protest in Chiang Mai on Saturday, 30 June over the destruction of forest lands of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. Members of the group will reportedly gather to protest against a housing project for the judges and staff of the Administrative Office of Appeal Region 5 in Mae Rim district. Campaigners claim that the project has a deteriorating effect on local wildlife, as well as lead to local flooding and landslides.

Travellers are advised that a ban was introduced in May 2014 after a coup d'etat, which forbids gatherings of more than five people. All public gatherings and demonstrations, whether planned or spontaneous, should be avoided where possible due to the risk of exposure to potential violence, opportunistic crime and getting arrested. Alternative routes should be considered to circumvent protest sites and minimise inconvenience from any travel delays.
