06/20/2018 (Sudan) - According to local media sources on Wednesday, 20 June, at least 19 people have been injured and an unknown number killed in a refugee camp in North Darfur. Unidentified gunmen reportedly approached the camp in a convoy of three vehicles and opened fire. The reasons for the attack are not known at this time. More information is awaited.

The region remains a high-risk security environment due to the threat of intercommunal violence, rebel clashes and violent crime. Any operationally-critical deployments to the area should only be conducted with stringent security protocols and journey management procedures in place. Any movement outside secure compounds should be done in coordination with reputable security providers and in liaison with local authorities.
