Large Police Response to Shooting in Simon Culhuacan, Mexico City

06/20/2018 (Mexico) - According to emerging social media feeds on Wednesday, 20 June, at least two people have been killed in a shooting in the Simon Culhuacan area of Mexico City. Footage shows multiple police units cordoning off the area. The motive for the shooting and the condition of the shooter are not known at this time. Disruption in the area is likely.

Those in Mexico City should avoid the vicinity of the incident due to the possibility of further violence and ongoing operations by the police and emergency services. Members are advised to exercise an increased level of situational awareness and report any suspicious activity to the local authorities. In an active shooter situation, travellers should run as far as possible, if safe to do so. If an opportunity to flee does not arise, clients should remain hidden behind solid cover, turning mobile phones to silent, and running to safety when possible.
