06/20/2018 (Mauritania) - A strike being carried out by doctors has been suspended for two weeks from Monday, 18 June, to allow talks to be held with the Ministry of Health. The doctors had been on strike for 60 days, calling for better working conditions and salary increases. The National Union of Medial Specialists, which is coordinating the strikes, has stated that, if the talks are unsuccessful, the strike will be resumed.

Members in Mauritania are advised that the healthcare provisions may be reduced if the strike is resumed. Members are advised to closely monitor local media outlets for updates on any future disruption.
