Power Outages Reported in Dock Sud Area of Buenos Aires

06/20/2018 (Argentina) - According to emerging social media feeds on Wednesday, 20 June, a general blackout has been reported in the Dock Sud area of Buenos Aires, following a minor explosion in a power plant. No casualties have been reported. At least 115,000 people have currently no electricity supply. Technicians are working to solve the issue but a timeframe for the re-establishment of electricity supply has not been specified.
Members in Buenos Aires should review business and travel contingency plans in light of the outages and monitor local media for updates on the situation and latest information on the restoration of power. Travellers should be mindful of an increased risk of opportunistic crime in the city amid the outages.
