06/19/2018 (Nigeria) - At least four people are reported to have been killed in two separate attacks by unknown gunmen in Plateau State. The first attack occurred on the evening of Saturday, 16 June, when three people were killed in Arangai, Mangu Local Government Area (LGA). The second occurred on the evening of Sunday, 17 June, when gunmen ambushed villagers in Fan district of Barking LGA, killing one. In response to these incidents and a further report of clashes between rival gangs in Jos North LGA, military personnel have been deployed and police investigations have been launched, aimed at uncovering the causes of the increased violence.

Due to the risks posed by violent criminal activity and intercommunal violence within Nigeria, members should conduct any movement in the country in coordination with a reputable security provider and the local authorities. Contingency measures should be continually reviewed and updated accordingly so as to remain commensurate to the local threat environment. Travellers should avoid overt displays of wealth and endeavour to maintain a low profile.
