Police Operation Underway to Apprehend Escaped Inmates in Yoro, Yoro Department

06/19/2018 (Honduras) - According to local media sources on Tuesday, 19 June, at least seven inmates escaped from the correctional facility of Yoro, Yoro department. Three captives have been recaptured at this time and four are still on the loose. Security operations are ongoing in the area. Temporary police checkpoints may be organised and a heightening of security checks is to be expected.
Members in the Yoro department are advised to exercise a heightened sense of caution until the end of the incident and report any type of suspicious activity to the security forces. Travellers should monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any security operations in their particular area and heed any directives issued by police and local authorities.
