Power Outages Reported in Astrakhan Region

06/19/2018 (Russia) - According to local media sources on Tuesday, 19 June, power outages have been reported in the Astrakhan region. As stated by the Ministry of Energy, five substations in Uvary, Kamyzyak, Novinskaya, Chapaevskaya and Kommunar have been inactive since 1105hrs (0705 UTC). Technicians are currently working to solve the issue. A timescale for re-establishing the electricity supply has not been specified.
Members in the Astrakhan region should review business and travel contingency plans in light of the outages and monitor local media for updates on the situation and latest information on the restoration of power. Travellers should be mindful of an increased risk of opportunistic crime in the city amid the outages.
