06/19/2018 (Russia) - According to local media sources on Tuesday, 19 June, a blackout has been reported in the Novosibirsk region following a thunderstorm. As stated by the Ministry of Emergency, 48 ¿¿settlements in the Cherepanovsky and Maslyansky districts have been disconnected from power supply. The presumed reason for the shutdown is a human error in the setting of the transformer substation electrical systems prior the storm. Technicians are currently working to solve the issue. A timeframe for the re-establishment of electricity supply has not been specified.

Members in the Novosibirsk region should review business and travel contingency plans in light of the outages and monitor local media for updates on the situation and latest information on the restoration of power. Travellers should be mindful of an increased risk of opportunistic crime in the city amid the outages.
