06/19/2018 (South Africa) - According to emerging reports from social media sources on Tuesday, 19 June, a protest has erupted on the N2 at Mtubatubathe near Durban. Sources state that protesters are stoning cars on the road between Hluhuwe and Richards Bay and images show several trucks being looted at the side of the road and other vehicles on fire. The police are warning motorists to avoid the area.
Members in the area should avoid the vicinity of any protests to lessen the chances of being affected by incidental violence and opportunistic crime. Motorists should anticipate traffic disruption along the N2 and utilise alternative routes where possible. Members should continue to monitor local media for further updates on the situation.
