UPDATE: Three Killed in Overnight Shooting in Malmo

06/19/2018 (Sweden) - According to emerging local media reports on Monday, 18 June, three people have died and a further three are seriously injured following a drive by shooting outside an internet cafe in Malmo full of football fans watching the world cup. The shooting occurred on Drottninggatan in the centre of the city at roughly 2020 hrs (1820 UTC). Police investigations are ongoing and a cordon remains in place. In a statement city authorities have claimed that the attack is not terror related and was likely motivated by territorial disputes between criminal gangs.

Those in Malmo are advised to avoid the Drottninggatan area in the immediate term due to the ongoing investigative operations. Travellers should monitor local media sources for further updates on the incident and heed any directives issued by police and local authorities.
