Over 120 Homes Destroyed in South Kordofan Following Heavy Rains and High Winds

06/19/2018 (Sudan) - According to local media reports on Tuesday, 19 June, recent heavy rainfall and strong winds have destroyed over 120 houses in the Nabota area of the Al-Tadamon locality in South Kordofan State. The official news agency said that 50 houses had been completely destroyed and 70 others severely damaged. Dozens of cattle have also died in the storms and many people have been injured. The commissioner of Al-Tadamon, Abdallah Abdel-Samad, visited the area and announced that a committee will be formed to assess the damage and provide the required support in coordination with national aid groups.

Members in the South Kordofan region are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather-related updates and should take sensible flood preparedness measures. Motorists should exercise heightened caution due to hazardous driving conditions caused by surface water, debris and damage to roads.
