06/19/2018 (Russia) - Emerging local media reports on Tuesday, 19 June, suggest that a private security officer employed by the central bank in Moscow has been shot and killed in a branch on Zhitnaya Street in Moscow. The employee was found with a gunshot wound to the head along with a pistol placed on the ground. Police operations are ongoing and it is currently unclear whether the incident is a suicide or a criminally-motivated attack.
Travellers in Moscow are advised to exercise a heightened level of caution in the vicinity of the incident and monitor local media for further updates on any associated security operations. Travellers should heed any directives issued by authorities and immediately report any suspicious activity to security forces.
