06/18/2018 (Mexico) - Tropical Storm Carlotta is currently located off the coast of the southern state of Guerrero, roughly 65 kilometres (40 miles) south-southeast of Zijuatanejo and 120 km from Lazaro Cardenas, where it is causing heavy rains and high winds. Nine of the country's southern states are on high alert according to the National Weather Service (SMN) on Monday, 18 June. There are reports of flooding in Acapulco, along with minor damage to roads and some fallen trees, and this is expected to worsen as the storm makes landfall.

Members in the southern states are advised to closely monitor local media sources for weather-related updates and should heed any directives issued by local authorities, including evacuation. Motorists should exercise heightened caution as hazardous driving conditions are likely, due to debris, surface water and poor visibility. Strong currents are also likely off the coast so entering the sea should be avoided.
