06/18/2018 (Syria) - According to International media sources on Monday, 18 June, at least 40 pro-regime fighters have been killed during an air-strike in the town of Al-Hari, close to the country's eastern border with Iraq. Reports state that the attack was carried out at night on the town, which is controlled by multi-national regional militia's loyal to President Assad. The Syrian government blamed the attack on the US-led coalition fighting Islamic State (IS) in the country. The US denied responsibility for the air-strike saying that no attacks had been carried out by US or coalition forces in the area. The town of Al-Hari lies on the deconfliction line which runs along the Euphrates River, separating Syrian troops and coalition forces.

Members are advised that due to the ongoing conflict, Syria remains an extreme-risk operational environment, as does the border areas of Iraq due to the threat of militant activity and security operations. Any operationally-critical deployments should only be undertaken with stringent security procedures in place and any movement outside of secure compounds should utilise a reputable security provider. Monitor local and international media for the latest updates on security-related developments and adhere to any directives issued by local authorities and security forces.
